Terazosin Tablets is a widely used supplement for curbing the symptoms of high blood pressure and benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
BPH, common in older men, is caused by the prostate gland expanding, thus restricting urine flow from the bladder. BPH leads to uncomfortable symptoms, including loss of bladder control. Terazosin Tablets relax the prostate gland, thereby allowing urine to flow freely and preventing painful symptoms.
Terazosin is an alpha-blocker, meaning that it binds selectively to the alpha-adrenergic receptor in smooth muscle, which exists in the prostate gland and in blood vessel walls. Terazosin prevents these smooth muscles from contracting and tightening forcing muscle cells to relax. This prevents the prostate gland from blocking urine flow caused by BPH, and increases blood flow by causing arteries to widen, thereby reducing workload on the heart associated to hypertension.
